In an interview in the latest issue of Ring magazine, when asked who among those he fought hit the hardest, his answer was Hamed. I guess if Hamed hit him with a shot like I have on my signature, he could've gotten KO'd.  Cheesy Yeah that punch by Pac looks powder puff.  Wink

Yeah I read that article. It was a toss between Pacquiao and Hamed...but gave Hamed the final nod as the hardest hitter.

I was surprised. I was expecting that he'd pick Junior Jones!  Grin

Hmmm...That's kind of odd that Barrera said that. I don't remember Hamed landing a single power punch in their fight. Maybe I need to watch that fight again.  I just  think Barrera is full of shit. He just refuses to give Manny any credit. I guess it's what he's gotta to do to psych himself into fighting Manny again.

I think the reason he picked Nas was cuz he was up for the Nas fight and felt the force of his shots but he was ready for them . It was the biggest night of his career .

Jnr Jones and Pac werent considered big threats to him .He wasnt as up for those fights so the shots had more effect. Anyone who has boxed will understand

True that! But history also suggests that Nas is the biggest over hyped punk biatch ever in the featherweight division.  Probably any division!

Any fighter tends to be biased for personal reasons. Hell, Pacquiao's been telling everybody that Marco was his toughest opponent. Even claimed that Barrera was better than Marquez but we all know he demolished Barrera while Marquez gave him fits. Sounds crazy just as Barrera's opinion is right now.

You speak the truth, Kimosabe! But a true champion in his prime comes back from a setback like that to regain his greatness. Manny did! Marco did! Erik did! Nas went home and got fat!!!

Just come out with it bro! Are you a Nas nuthugger??  Grin Grin

He was in a very tough division with great fighters lined up to get a piece of him.  He failed in his 1st attempt then called it a day.  What a fluke if there ever was one!!

I don't know where the confusion is........The lame excuse is not how big a hitter The Prince is.....it's about the opinion that Barrera wasn't up for those two fights.......

Ofcourse he wasnt up for Pac and Jones . They were nobodies who have been k.o'd before . Why would  a great like Barrera get motivated for that when he was such a big heavy . IF Pac was a big name and Barrera came out assertive and his usual slef I wouldnt consider it a fluke or if the odds were even . But everything suggests that it was an offnight . Build up/fight itslef /fights since / previous records etc , it all suggest the result was a fluke

I'm calling Nas a fluke. Not just 1 fight in particular. I'm saying Nas the fighter was a well marketed fluke.  You can say that he would have beaten Erik, JMM, and Pac but there's really no way of ever knowing that. I think those 3 fighters would have torn him a new ass.  I don't mean to disrespect your fighter in a personal way. Just expressing my opinion.

I guess Jones beating Barrera the first time was a fluke, beating him the second time also was a fluke in your opinion. ...hmmm.....I wonder how Barrera could not have gotten himself psyched up for that one...I don't know what would be a bigger motivation, I guess the first loss and a chance for redemption was not enough...he just took Jones lightly......

Pacquiao coming up along the ranks before the fight with Barrera, with Pacquiao knocking opponents out left, right and center, I guess was not much of a motivation as well......

Barrera could've been undefeated then if only he was ready all the time.....

The Prince was not a fluke.  No boxer can compile a record like that and be deemed as a fluke.  It's just too bad that he didn't stick around to take on the best....him leaving boxing like that has tainted his reputation more than anything.

A fighter's record alone doesn't tell the entire truth. Butterbean has a more impressive record but I don't think anyone in their mind would call him a great fighter. Who did Nas beat?? A washed up Kelly?? The Pocket Rocket who he couldn't KO?  I think Nas was a fluke. Most will probably disagree with me and that's ok. I gotta to admit -  I never like him in the first place but I always watched his fights. The man packs a wallop! He was fun to watch. But that was all. He had no boxing skills and truly one dimentional if there ever was one! When he decided to hang up the gloves after Marco kicked his ass, I realized he has no heart. He was a mere product of an excellent marketing machine and it had ran its course.

Come on, you comparing Butterbean with The Prince?  Come on man, Hamed won his share of titles and you cannot take that away from him, regardless of who the champs were that he beat.

Against the best of the world who knows, Barrera put on a clinic in their showdown but it wasn't as if he got TKO'ed.   He was hyped up, he was cocky, a showboat, some people didn't like it, some people did, I for one loved the way The Prince came into the scene and made people notice the lighter divisions again.  He came in with a bang, raw, fresh, talented with an attitude.

He will not go down as a great like a Barrera or a Morales, but he did win his share of belts, he did put his stamp in boxing and that is something that cannot be taken away from him.
